Fractured: Nine Lives to Escape My Own Abuse
Review
Autobiographical account of Dissociative Identity Disorder, or Multiple Personality Disorder. Traces the roots of the disorder to early childhood experiences of extreme and severe sexual, emotional and physical abuse. Interestingly, also examines the author's mother's mental illness and the impact that this had upon Ruth's developing personality and ability to reflect on her mother's abusing behaviour. Fascinating and moving in equal measures.
